When cooking you are bound to come across failures in the kitchen from time to time. Mine are very rarely from mixing the wrong ingredients. (Although there was the time I put 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in my apple cobbler instead of 2 teaspoons. It came out a bit bitter. Easily solved tho by serving with extra ice cream!!) Nope, mine usually come from lack of attention. Being too easily distracted. Unluckily for me I also have a room mate who loves to take pictures of everything. So now there is photographic evidence of my failures!

If you are driving by my house during one of these moments you may hear the smoke alarm going off. Or the dinner bell as I have dubbed it. |
Yes, while I do love to cook I can be too easily distracted. "Oh, I'll just run up to the computer to check Fairyland really quick" or "OMG Charlie you are too cute! You want mommy to play with you". Then it's "what's burning" or "why is the smoke alarm going off?" Yep, it happens often. I even put a TV in the kitchen as just "catching a bit of my show" led to many failures. Thankfully my new used stove has a built in timer so I'm getting better. (Ok, I did burn a pound of hamburger last night when I ran upstairs to get something and got distracted by my Facebook games. Which is why I decided on this post in my blog) My cats and or my friends the skunks make out big time when this happens. I do think that is why the cats distract me.
So here is a picture of one of my failures that my roomie just had to post on facebook. I had just made a pasta dish and had some sub rolls turned garlic bread toasting in a frying pan. I was so busy taking photos of my latest creation that I made cajun garlic bread. She thought it was hilarious that I would screw up the easiest part of the meal. Not my finest moment but considering I have started a few small fires (always have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen!) not my worst. :) So learn from my mistakes and don't get distracted while... "oooh, Ellen is on"
